Rainforest Geography
  1. A rainforest is a dense forest with biodiversity, found normally in tropical areas with heavy rainfall.
    1. Canopy
      1. The canopy is the aboveground portion of a plant or crop. For forests, canopy also refers to the upper layer or habitat zones.
        1. Here are the layers:
          1. Emergent Layer: 200ft. The tallest trees are the emergents, towering above the forest floor with trunks that measure up to 16 feet around. Sunlight is plentiful up here.
            1. Canopy Layer: 200ft. This is the primary layer of the forest and forms a roof over the two remaining layers. Most canopy trees have smooth, oval leaves that come to a point.
              1. Understory Layer: 12ft. Little sunshine reaches this area so the plants have to grow larger leaves to reach the sunlight.
                1. Forest floor: (ground+). It's very dark down here. Almost no plants grow in this area, Very hardly any sunlight.
        2. Animal Adaptation
          1. Animals have to adapt to their surroundings and blend in to their enviorment.
