        The elect are initiated through baptism, confirmation and Eucharist.
        This is on Holy Saturday. They are now a neophyte (newly planted)

Religious Orders
1. Monks and Friars are different
2. Monks promise to stay in a monastery for their whole life, taking a vow of stability
3. Friars travel, live in different Priories ect
4. Friars
  1. Takes 7 years to become a friar
  2. 1st year = Postulancy, thinking
  3. 2nd year = Noviciate (Newbie!) AKA year in desert - Isolation
  4. 3rd year = temporary vows, for 3 years, like an engagement
  5. 3 vows - poverty, chastity, obedience
  6. Then you do final vows AKA evangelical councils
  7. Charisms = Apostolic (giving your service) and Contemplative (think and pray a lot)
5. Jesuits
  1. Officially known as the society of Jesus
  2. A Roman Catholic religious order founded in 16th Century
  3. Small group of men, took vows of poverty, chastity and obedience to the Pope
  4. Do missionary Work
6. Dominicans
  1. Roman Catholic order of friars and nuns, founded in Toulouse in 1215
  2. Founded by St Dominic, its aim is to teach truth, its motto 'Veritas' - Truth
  3. There a 3 Branches
    1. Male Preachers who teach
    2. Enclosed Nuns that life a life of prayer and contemplation
    3. Tertiaries - Some live in the community and others share in life of the religious community
7. Franciscans
  1. Order of Roman Catholic and Anglican Friars
  2. Founded by St Francis of Assisi
  3. Pioneered a life of simplicity and Faithfulness to the Gospel of Christ
  4. Lived a life of repentance, trust and respect for all of Gods creations
  5. Particular respect for nature, especially birds and animals
