  1. Life In Africa
    1. Living in constant fear of being taken for slavery.
      1. You could be taken away at anytime, anywhere
        1. Never knowing if you're safe
        2. If you're taken, you are most likely to never see anyone from your family ever again
        3. Constant rivalry between all tribes.
          1. Tribes fighting for power
          2. Slave traders passing the slaves onto the Europeans as part of a trade
            1. Europeans didn't have to go searching for slaves as there was people willing to trade for them
            2. Waiting around in forts or castles before being packed onto the ships
              1. They were basically prisons
                1. Slaves having to see many people who were struggling the same or worse
                2. When being taken, the slaves would have to travel for days, nonstop
                  1. Not on horseback, by foot
                    1. Their (Slaves) hands would be tied and so would their feet, to prevent them from escaping
                      1. The slave traders would put something over their head to prevent the slave from seeing their surroundings or screaming for help
                    2. Journey across the Atlantic
                      1. Tight packing in the boats
                        1. No access to fresh air
                          1. People dying all around you
                            1. Smell of the dead and no one would be able to wash.
                              1. diseases spread quickly
                                1. Living in their own blood, urine and faeces
                                2. Lack of food when on ships
                                  1. Resulted in death of many slaves on board
                                  2. Long journey, could take up to one year
                                    1. Forced into exercise so they looked presentable and strong when being auctioned
                                    2. Experiences in the Americas
                                      1. The uncomfortable jobs they had to do
                                        1. Men
                                          1. Had to work growing cotton and tobacco
                                            1. Long tiring hours
                                              1. Close to no breaks
                                                1. Uncomfortable conditions
                                              2. Women and children
                                                1. Work in the homes of the slave owners
                                                  1. abused by the slave owners
                                                    1. both verbally and physically
                                                    2. treated as if they were less than animals
                                                2. Slaves would be swapped for goods
                                                  1. Being treated as if they were dirt
                                                    1. Sold and treated similarly to cattle
                                                  2. Impacts of Slavery
                                                    1. Without it the Industrial Revolution would not have happened to the extreme it did
                                                      1. Factories wouldn't have as many workers
                                                        1. Not as many things/objects/goods would have been produced
                                                        2. Took a long time to be stopped and finish
                                                          1. A lot of black women were raped and mistreated
                                                          2. Created more war within Africa
                                                            1. Tribes fought for survival and the sale
                                                            2. Slave trade changed the way Africa could have developed
                                                              1. Compared to the rest of the world the country developed slowly and not the extreme the rest of the world did
                                                              2. Broken up families due to the selling of and seperating slaves
                                                                1. Cultures and traditions lost and forgotten along the line
                                                                  1. Aborignals have gone through a similar problem with losing a significant of their languages
                                                              3. Economic Changes
                                                                1. Having a slave showed you were wealthy
                                                                  1. The slaves usually looked after their owners children and family
                                                                  2. Producers would be able to make more for cheaper, resulting in a bigger profit
                                                                    1. In the workplace, they got longer work hours for a low, if even that, income
                                                                      1. usually no breaks
