Before the English Civil War, King Charles I and Parliament kept having arguments. this led to ( Oliver Cromwell, Jacob Cromwell ) and Parliament to declare war on the Royalists in ( 1639, 1642 ). By 1647, Charles I had been captured but escaped later and put on house arrest. As the Civil War continued, Charles was again captured in 1648 and his son, Charles II fled to France. Oliver Cromwell offered the idea to Charles of him remaining the King but with less power. Oliver Cromwell later died and when Charles II heard of this he returned to England, killed Oliver Cromwell's son [who was going to be the new protector of England] and restored the ( Monarchy, Republic ).
