What is Humanism?
A new way of thinking about life. A new philosophy, basically.
* Freasco. This was when they panted on wet plaster.
* Ailtireacht. They used big columns and circulars in architecture.
*Sculpting. They did sculptures of people - Michelanglo who did David.
Leonardo Da Vinci was born in Vinci, beside Florence. His father was a lawyer. He went as an apprentice to Verrochio in Florance. The first piece of art he did was the Angel in Baistead Chriost. When he was qualified he went to work in Milano. When he was there he panted the Mhaighdean Ar Na Carraigeacha.
Da Vinci had a special notebook where he put down all his thoughts. He wrote with his left hand and moved the words around. You had to get a mirror to read them.
Albrecht Durer - Painter outside of Italy. Painted an Fód Mór Móna.
He was born in Nuremburg in Germany. His father was a goldsmith. When he was 13 he did a self portrait and it was so good his father sent him as an apprentice to the best artist in his area. After being qualified he traveled to Italy. He did lots of pictures of plants and animals an they were very detailed. An example of the detail is in his painting An Fod Mor Mona. He is famous for his self portraits. He did a lot of them because he wanted people to remember his face. He was also famous for his carvings, such as Breith ár dTiarna.
Durer died from catching a fever off a dead whale he was painting.
Results Of The Renaissance
* Education improved because of printing. (Johannes Gutenburg) More books were made, more people able to read etc.
* Improvements in Medicine and Science.
* People started questioning Religion.
