Infants develop a sense of trust when caregivers provide reliability, love etc. Failure to do so will result in mistrust which can cause insecurity and inability to relate to others

Adolescents build a steady identity for themselves based on their talents, values, relationships, culture etc. Those who don't develop an identity will suffer from confusion; uncertainty.
