Why is benzene less reactive than alkenes?
In cyclohexene the pi bond is made by sideways overlap of p orbitals on adjacent carbon atoms.
Whereas for benzene, the pi bond is made by the sideways overlap of p orbitals on all 6 carbons atoms adjacent to each other
Therefore cyclohexene has a higher pi electron density than benzene and will attract electrophiles more strongly as it induces a bigger dipole
