What is a synapse?
A gap between cells that slows responses down.
A junction between two nerve cells, consisting of a minute gap across which impulses pass by diffusion of a neurotransmitter.
The receptors are found in ❌: the ❌, the ❌, the ❌, the ❌ and the ❌.
❌ carry impulses from the receptors to the CNS. ❌ carry impulses from the CNS to effector organs, which may be muscles or glands.
The main steps in reflex actions are: 1. A receptor detects a stimulus. 2. A sensory neutron transmits the impulse to the CNS. 3. A relay neutron passes the impulse on. 4. A motor neurone is stimulated. 5. The impulse passes to an effector. 6. Action is taken.
