What was the British Influence on China? | Britain knew how effective the Cohong system was. Britain was also in debt, yet they still spent a lot of money on tea. In order to pay for tea, British aristocrats developed opium and sold it to Chinese drug traders. They would funnel the money they made from Opium into the East India Tea Company |
