Question | Answer |
The periodic table | a tabular arrangement of the chemical elements, ordered by their atomic number, electron configurations, and recurring chemical properties. |
Transition metals | a metal which forms one or more stable ions which have either half filled or fully filled orbitals |
Non-metal | Elements with relatively low boiling points, that are poor conductors or heat and electricity. |
Halogens | Group 7 or 0 elements that get less reactive as you go down the group |
Atomic size | the atomic radius of a chemical element is a measure of the size of the atom. This is the distance from the center of the nucleus to the edge of the electron cloud |
Ionisation energy | The amount of energy requires to remove one outer electron from each atom in a mole of gaseous atoms to form +1 ions |
Electron Affinity | The amount of energy that is release when an electron is added to a neutral atom or molecule in its gaseous state. |
Ions and Salts | Ions are positively or negatively charged atoms. Salts are chemical compounds from and acid base reaction H+ is replaces with metal or other positively charges ion. |
Ionic Bonding | Ion is bond if the transfer of electrons bonding a positively charges ion with a negatively charged ion. |
