Question Answer
Chromatin The bundle of DNA and protein that make up a chromosome, inside of nucleus.
Chromosome Tightly coiled bundle of DNA and protein made of 2 chromatids.
Chromatid One half of a chromosome
Centromere Center point where 2 chromatids connect.
Centriole Organelle in prophase, releases spindle fibers.
Interphase 98% of a cell's life is spent in this phase, cell is carrying out it's normal day functions, and chromatin is in nucleus.
Prophase Centrioles are made, nuclear membranes start to dissolve, spindle fibers appear from the poles of the cell, and chromatin becomes chromosomes.
Metaphase Chromosomes line up in middle of cell, spindle fibers wrap around the centromere.
Anaphase Spindle fibers begin to pull at the centromere of each chromosome till they separate.
Telophase 2 nuclear membrane, nuclei, and nucleoli form around the chromatids. Chromatids start to uncoil to chromatin.
Cytokinesis Animal cells: The cytoplasm begins to split down the middle, and 2 daughter cells are formed. Plant cells: The cell grows in width and the Golgi Bodies secrete material to form a new cell wall, called a cell plate. New wall grows down center of cell splitting into two.
