Define the terms: Distance A measurement of how far apart objects are
Displacement A measurement of the change in position of a moving body
What is the measure of how fast something is moving? speed
What is meant by average speed? Measure of how fast something moves overall
What does an average speed not show? Indication of how slowly or how quickly you may have travelled in a trip. or How long you were caught in a traffic jam or stopped at traffic lights.
Define the term: Instantaneous speed Your speed at a particular instant
What does the change in frequency allow? It allows the exact speed of the car to be calculated
What does a motion sensor send out? It sends out pulses of radiation such as ultrasonic sound waves, microwaves or infra red radiation.
What do motion sensors provide to drivers of vehicles? Information about how close they are to a barrier
what is a ticker timer? Another device that could also be used to measure speed
What is reaction time? The length of time it takes a driver to respond to a hazard
What is a reaction distance? The distance traveled while a driver responds to a hazard
What can distractions be caused by while driving? 1. Speaking or texting on a mobile phone 2. talking to others 3. changing the radio station
How do you calculate average speed, distance and time? Enter text here...
What is a slope also known as? Gradient
What are some ways to measure speed? A mobile speed camera-fixed speed camera,multi flash photograph and ticker timer
What are some factors that can influence a drivers reaction time? Persons age, fatigue and drug intake(alcohol)
What does a speed time graph show? It shows how an objects speed changes over time
How do you convert km/s to m/s and m/s to km/s? Km/h to m/s (divide 3.6) M/s to km/h ( multiply 3.6)
