Question | Answer |
Introduction | Hello, My name is Misty Hughes and I will be presenting upon the subject, Should Cannabis Be Legal in the U.K? I will start my speech by discussing the positives, then the negative effects of cannabis and then touch upon its current status, finally I will ask for some questions. |
Positive Pt 1 | For 3000 years it's been used Never been legalised June 2018 legalised cannabidiol for epilepsy |
Positive Pt 2 | Less likely to come obese Improve lung function Increases creativity Improve performance Kills cancer cells Safer then alcohol-114 x Help heroin addicts give up Completely natural |
Negative Pt 1 | Most popular illegal drug Make you sick Make you faint Lethargic Dis-guard memory Feel confused & Anxious |
Negative Pt 2 | Paranoid Some experience severe panic attacks- most common in Skunk Affects ability to drive Highly addictive - stress coper Addiction is deadly Demotivated and uninterested in work/education |
Question 1 Surely if cannabis can kill cancer cells, can't it kill natural healthy cells too, therefore crating severe long term issues? | The fact is any smoking will of course bring damage to your lungs, but cannabis can actually prevent cancer. Cannabinoid based medicines and cigarettes, specifically target tumour cells. They do not have any toxic effect on normal cells (non-tumour) |
Current Status | Used today in many products Health and Beauty Hemp is used to make rope, clothes Legal in 40% of the world Legalised in some medicines in 2018 |
Hemp | Hemp is actually the stalk of the plant, the fibres in this are extracted and used in everyday products, but is not legal to ingest. Hemp, unlike marijuana contains little amounts of a product called THC, this is the component that gets you HIGH. |
The Law | It is illegal The penalty depends on the class of the drug and the amount Where you and your drugs were found Your personal history |
Conclusion Pt 1 | In summary, cannabis is legal in most the world It has good effects and bad effects There is a high demand for it to be deemed legal, following Canadas decision earlier in 2018 |
Conclusion Pt 2 | The major difference is that marijuana contains a high percentage of THC, which provides a high or a daze, after ingesting the drug. |
Question 1 Pt 2 | So therefore there is not long term harm but possibly a cancer cure that could be more successful as chemotherapy and other treatments target both tumorous and not tumorous cells. |
