Ireneaen theodicy | Soul Making, God created an imperfect world |
Image then Likeness | we were created in Gods image but have to grow into his likeness. these are the 2 stages in creation. Adam had the form of God but not the content. Humanity is striving for the perfection that God is, therefore The Fall in Genesis 3 was part of the maturing process. the presence of evil makes people grow and develop towards perfection |
Epidemic distance | God puts a distance between us and Himself so we have the choice to come to him. The ends justifies the means, God permits evil because it brings about a greater good. Natural evil is the inevitable result of having an epistemic distance. |
The Fall | is interpreted literally. It was a situation in which humans went astray from God. He places the blame on the Serpent. Adam and Eve were children in the own maturity. God is punishing us in order for us to mature. |
Analogy of a Craftsman | Humans should allow God to mould them into perfection by acting in faith towards God and allowing both good and bad experiences to make us into perfectly crafted items. |
