What type of hospitality business do Cafes and coffee shops fall under? Restaurants. Examples include Costa Coffee, Cafe Nero or local independent ones
Give 2 examples of mainstream restaurants. Chain restaurants such as Nando's and Frankie and Benny's, or owner managed local restaurants such as Casa Pepe.
What type of restaurant is a Michelin star restaurant and can you provide an example? Fine dining restaurant. Eg, The Fat Duck (Heston Blumenthal's), or Sienna in Dorchester.
Name 4 different types of cuisine. Chinese, Indian, French, Italian.
Who own 'managed' pubs and bars? The Brewary.
What is the name of a type of pub that is owned by a brewary but leased to a licensee? A tenanted, or leased, pub. The manager runs the pub independently but has to sell the brewary's beers and ales.
What is the name of the type of pub which is owned by a licensee who is able offer beverages from any supplier? Free house.
What is the purpose of a nightclub? To play music for customers to dance to and to serve food and beverages.
Contract food service providers are also known as... Outsourcing
Name 5 types of business who may use a contract food service provider. Schools, universities, hospitals, prisons, care homes, airlines, oil rigs, the armed services.
Hospitality services (in-house) means... a business who provides the catering themselves, rather than using a contract food service provider. It is in-house rather than outsourcing. An example may be a cruise ship!
Name the 2 types of membership clubs. Non-profit members' clubs Private members' clubs
Provide 3 examples of a non-profit members' club. Eg, working mens' clubs, British Legion clubs, Masonic Lodges, Conservatives club, sports clubs (rugby, football, snooker etc)
Name 3 local hospitality businesses Escoffier Restaurant Casa Pepe Coriander (Mexican) Restaurant
Name 5 National hospitality businesses. Eg KFC, Costa Coffee, Ramada Hotels, Pizza Express, Frankie and Benny's, Premier Inn
