What is private worship? When a believer praises or honours God on their own (meditation, rosary)
What is informal worship? Charismatic or spontaneous (speaking in tongues, gospel)
What is non-liturgical worship? A service that does not follow a set text or ritual (quaker worship, baptist services)
What is liturgical worship? A church service that follow a set structure (any of the seven sacraments)
What are some advantages of private worship? more personal, calming and stress-free, more freedom, anywhere and anytime, 1-1 with God
What are some advantages of liturgical worship? Worldwide order, familiar to anyone, in line with Gods plan and passed down in generations
What are some advantages of non-liturgical worship? Share personal interpretaions, different and original, emphasis on the word of God
What are some advantages of informal worship? Emotional impact, more relaxed, active roles for anyone, personal relation with God
What are some disadvantages of private worship? There is no guidance, it's open to laziness and enable selfish or unrealistic prayers
What are some disadvantages of liturgical worship? It is unoriginal, predictable, old-fashioned and there is an inbalance of pwoer towards the priest
What are some disadvantages of non-liturgical worship? It is dysfunctional, hard to follow, unexpected and doesn't align with God's plan
What are some disadvantages of informal worship? It is chaotic, unreliable, not understandable or tamed and is a distraction from God
What are the four main components of an effective prayer? adoration, supplication, thanksgiving, repentance
What are the seven sacraments? baptism, confirmation, eucharist, reconciliation, healing, marriage and ordination
What is the Eucharist? A service of thanksgiving in which the sacrificial death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is celebrated, using bread and wine
What is transubstantiation? The conversion of bread and wine into body and blood of Christ, with only the appearance remaining
What is consecration? consecrated is something that is associated with being sacred
What is consubstantiation? the doctrine that says the bread and wine can co-exist with the body and blood of Christ
What does it mean if something is ecumenical? something which includes all Christian denominations
What is the meaning of Christmas? Commemorates the incarnation of Jesus, ends with the feast of epiphany after 12 days, time of peace and goodwill
What is the meaning of Easter? Celebrates the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, on the holy week the christians remember all the events that led up to the crucifixion
What are the 4 key parts to the Easter Vigil? 1. Source of Light 2. Liturgy of Word 3. Liturgy of Initiation 4. Liturgy of the Eucharist
What do Street Pastors do? Help party-goers and people at nightclubs, partnered with the police and local councils
