Autotroph A producer; a living organism that makes its own food using energy from the light.
Population Refers to a group of one type of living organism. Example: Humans or panda.
Producer A living organism that makes its own food.
Consumer A living organism that gets/eats its food.
Heterotroph A consumer; a living organism that needs to eat food to gain energy.
Symbiosis A close relationship between two different organisms. Example: A bird and a flower.
Parasitism A symbiotic relationship where one organism is harmed while the other organism benefits.
Mutualism A symbiotic relationship where both organisms benefit. Example: clown fish and a sea anemone.
Decomposer A living organism that breaks down waste or decaying material in order to get nutrients to stay alive.
Herbivore Plant eater; a primary consumer.
Omnivore Consumer that eats both plants and animals.
Carnivore A consumer that only eats animals (usually a third level consumer).
