Question Answer
What is water pollution Water Pollution is the pollution of the hydrosphere
How do the pollutants spread across the earth When pollutants enter they go through the water cycle as well causeing them to spread across Earth
What are three types of water pollution Thermal,Waste, and Chemical
When does waste pollution occur It occurs when sewage, industrial waste and animal waste are dumped into water. Sometimes it isn't directly dumped into water but makes it way in the hydrosphere.
What does waste act like Waste acts like a fertilizator for bacteria and algae.
What does bacteria and algae do the the water It creates oxygen depletion which can suffocate aquatic animals
What are microorganisms Microorganisms produce toxins and disease. If consumed they cause disease
What happens when farmers use harmful pesticides and fertilizers The chemicals pollute the water which poisons living things and make water dangerous to drink
What chemicals do factories dump into water? And why might people not assume there pollutants Factories dump salts and metals into water. Even though they are naturally occurring too much is harmful to aquatic animals
Chemicals contaminate groundwater why is this very bad Humans get water from groundwater so if contaminated our water will become extermely harmful
When drilling for fossil fuels what is released into groundwater When drilling for fossil fuels harmful chemicals can be released
What is thermal pollution Thermal Pollution is when people dump hot water into cooler water bodies
Who uses water to cool down there machines Factories and power plants.
What happens to the water when very warm When the water gets very warm it's released into cooler water and more cooler water is pumped bacj
When water gets warm what happens to the oxygen The amount of dissolved oxygen the water can hold decreases which creates less water for the aqutic animals
What happens when fossil fuels are burned Nitrogen and sulfur containing gases are released and mix with water vapor creating acid rain and precipitation
