Question Answer
Define Data Set of raw facts and figures that have not been processed by a computer. E.g. data from surveys.
Define information Data being processed by a computer which gives it meaning. E.g. sorting something into a order.
Define Knowledge Applying rules to information.
State 2 benefits of encoding data 1. Less storage space is needed, more data can be stored. 2. Saves staff time, therefore money. As less time is spent keying in the data.
Problem with encoding data VALUE JUDGEMENT and SUBJECTIVE OPINION. When relying on value judgement it could lead to less accurate data as people have different opinions. E.g. height sizes S, M, T
