Question Answer
what creates the effect of anomalous behaviour? 1.Size 2. Sheilding 3.Orbital availability
What do, size, shielding and orbital availability effect? 1.Electronegativity values 2.Co-ordination number 3.reactivity and extent of chemistry.
What is orbital availability? The ability to form a dative covalent bond in the higher energy, vacant d-orbital. not available to elements Li-F.
Why does 'N' only have co-ordination numbers of 3 or 4? First row of elements are restriced to an octet of electrons, they can only use S+P orbitals not the vacant 'd' orbital.
