Question Answer
LOCATION LOCATION
The location of Horror movies is normally used to create tention and generate an eerie atmosphere. This is usually done by using a dark setting which is secluded and away from most other action. Some examples are Woods, abandoned houses and unknown areas. .
I set my production in a Garden. The ambient lighting was dark and the are was isolated by surrounding trees. This made it look secluded from other civilisation and therefor made it mysterious and helped create suspense. .
This follows the normal conventions of horror movies as it adds an eerie atmosphere and creates mystery. It also isnt apparent that it is a garden which adds to the narrative as you then wonder why the character is where she is. .
To conclude, The use of dark ambient lighting and a secluded area is common in horror movies as the locations tend to build suspense because of the mystery and atmosphere that is created. My location fits this view and is similar to other horror movies. .
