What is a slave? -a slave was someone who was first sold to do manual work unpaid.
What is a slave trader? -it is someone who sells a slave for something in return usually a small amount of money.
What is plantation? -it is a place where the slaves are sent to hep the produce of sugar, bananas and things like tobacco aswell
What was organised so that the slave traders could earn lots of money from profit? -the slave trade was organised in a triangle from where the raw materials were first sold, they then picked up the slaves (for an unfair price) to take to plantations in America where they make a lot of money (get a large profit)
Why was the slave trade so profitable? -it was profitable because the workers are cheap and their work is unpaid. Also the ships around the triangle were constantly full with the slaves therefore they didn't have to make several trips because there were plenty of them on board and they saw it as if one of the slaves died they had plenty more to use.
Why is it called the 'slave triangle'? -because the slaves & cargo are travelling around the area in a triangle -West Africa..to..North America..to..London/Bristol
What was the middle passage? -it was from where the slaves were picked up and taken to the plantations in different parts of America.
What was the conditions like on board the ship? -it was horrific, they were loaded onto the ship like cargo. -they were off loaded with bench marks on their body, they were underfed and had terrible infections everywhere.
