Performance Management Step 1 - Informal Discussion When are performance issues to be addressed with an employee? As soon as possible after they any issues are identified. Have an informal meeting to discuss general performance and areas in need of improvement
Performance Management Step 1 - Informal Discussion What is the purpose of the informal discussion Encourage dialogue to try to identify any underlying causes to performance Provides employee opportunity to explain and discuss issues/causes and make suggestions how to best resolve matter
Performance Management Step 1 - Informal Discussion If the problem isn't resolved after the informal discussion, what should you do? Discuss with Human Resource Manager if a more formal performance meeting is appropriate
Performance Management Step 2 - The Performance Meeting When do you do this? When an employees performance hasn't improved (after informal discussion) a more formal meeting may appropriate Doesn't mean a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) will be automatically commenced
