The CPU What is the CPU responsible for? The CPU is responsible for all of the processing the computer does. Without a CPU, computers would not be able to do anything with the data they store.
The CPU Fetch-Decode-Execute cycle What does the fetch step consist of? Retrieving instructions from the memory to the CPU.
The CPU Fetch-Decode-Execute cycle What does the decode step consist of? The decode step consists of working out what the instruction means.
The CPU Fetch-Decode-Execute cycle What does the execute step consist of? This step is where the computer has to carry out the instruction.
State three features of cache memory. Can be accessed quickly by the CPU. Is used to store regularly used item so they can be loaded faster. Web browsers save web pages here when you open them for the first time.
What is cache memory? The cache is a small area that is very quick for the CPU to access. By storing regularly used items in the cache, the computer can cut down on the load time of those items.

A kilobyte = __ bytes 1024 bytes
A megabyte = __ kilobytes 1024 kilobytes
A gigabyte = __ megabytes 1024 megabytes
