Question Answer
How many complexes does the ETC have, and what are they composed of? 4 protein complexes (I, II, III, IV), and coenzyme Q and cytochrome C embedded in the inner mitochondrial matrix.
Is ATP synthase considered a part of the ETC? No, per se. It is responsible for making ATP from the protons that get pumped into the innermembrane space by the ETC.
What is the function of the ETC? The ETC operates via oxidative phosphorylation, in which a series of redox reactions occur from complex to complex.
