Question Answer
14. READING AND COMPREHENDING ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS When a person reads a paragraph it doesn’t mean they will understand it; new information is assimilated depending on their previous experience and their viewpoint.
In other words, the more previous knowledge we have on a topic, the easier to anticipate and interpret its meaning. Reading is all about anticipating the next word; if we were to scramble letters in a paragraph but we keep the 1st and last letter in the right position we can read it without any trouble.
Another important point for a reader to understand the paragraph is to use meaningful titles and headlines. People use different parts of the brain depending on what we are doing with them; such as viewing a word, listening towards, speaking words or generating verbs.
It is crucial for us to use simple and less words in order to reach a larger audience.
