Acts of Parliament (1534) -Confirmed the prohibition of payments of Annates to Rome -Granted the right to elect Bishops & Abbots to the king -gave the supreme legal authority to secular courts -Appeals from the church courts were to go to the king in chancery
Act forbidding Papal Dispensation & Payment of Peter's Pence (1534) -Restricted Archbishops right to allow departures from Canon Law - had allowed priests to hold more than one parish -Prevented payment of Peter's pence to the Pope
Act for the Succession (1534) -Henry & Catherine's marriage made invalid -Mary declared illegitimate -Secured succession for Henry & Anne's children -A clause made it an act of treason to deny succession -WHOLE nation should swear an oath to observe it
Act of Supremacy (1534) -Didn't make H head of church - BUT - did state that he 'justly & rightly is ought to be the sup head of church & it should be taken, accepted & regarded as Supreme Head' -Other powers were given to the king: - right to collect tenths & fruits - making it treasonable to call the king/queen a heretic or a schismatic
