Question Answer
Protein Synthesis consists of which two stages? Transcription and Translation
What is Transcription and where does it occur? – occurs in the nucleus; a strand of messenger RNA (mRNA) is produced from the coding strand of DNA
What is Translation and where does it occur? this occurs in the ribosomes; the messenger RNA is translated, using transfer RNA (tRNA), into a polypeptide

What happens during Transcription:
Once assembled, the mRNA molecule moves: Out of the nucleus via the pore and into the cytoplasm
What is edited out of pre-mRNA by splicing? Introns (non coding sections~)
What is Translation?
