What element of smoking increases blood pressure? Carbon monoxide and nicotine
Effects of carbon monoxide in the body Carbon monoxide combines with haemoglobin reducing the amount of oxygen its able to carry tissues don't get enough oxygen therefore heart rate increases.
Why does blood pressure increase when nicotine is present? It causes heart rate to increase this increases rate of contraction increasing blood pressure
What is heart disease? Any known disease which affects the heart e.g Hear attacks
Cholesterol is needed in the body. Why? What bad effects does it have on the body? Its needed to making cell membranes. However in excess build up in arteries narrowing it. This restricts blood flow causing a heart attack
Main cause of an heart attack When an already narrowed coronary arteries is further blocked by a blood cloth (thrombosis) cutting of oxygen supply to the heart
