What are BTEC qualifications? Vocationally based: Gives a basic grounding in understanding and knowledge of the sports sector
What are GCSE's? Single and double award examinations.
What are GCE's AS level is taken in the first year and A2 the following year in order to gain the full A level.
What are sports performance awards? They are sport specific courses which enable people to be engaged in sport. Sports Leaders UK Level 1 Award - open to anyone aged 14 and older. This leads on to Level 2 Award in the Community Sports Leadership Award for people aged over 16.
What are proficiency testing and awards? Developed in individual sports and activities and developed through the National Governing Bodies. Swimming - Kelloggs award scheme: stages 1 - 10 progressively building up the skill and technical ability of the performer.
What benefits would a person gain through being involved in sport as an athlete, coach or official? Leadership skills Organisational skills Communication skills Team work Confidence Self esteem
What does inclusion mean? A policy that no one should experience barriers to learning as a result of their disability, heritage, gender, special educational need, ethnicity, social group, sexual orientation, race or culture.
What careers could a person be involved in through sport? PE Teacher Coach Trainer Physiotherapist Sports management Personal Trainer Life guards Wardens and rangers Sports medicines Media - reporters, broadcasters, photographers and journalists.
What is the National Healthy Schools Programme? It is a whole school approach working with children and young people, parents, school staff to make a significant difference to the health and achievements of children and young people. It encourages people to make informed health and life choices to reach their full potential, creating happier and healthier children who do better in learning and in life.

When is the personal, social and health education delivered? What does it involve? Delivered during tutorial time and PSCHE lessons Involves lessons relating to: sex and relationships Drugs Economic wellbeing Health Education
What is the healthy eating element? Knowledge regarding making healthy food choices. Healthy and nutritious food and drink being available across the school day.
What is the physical activity element? Young people are provided with a range of opportunities to be physically active. Children understand how physical activity can help them to be more healthy and how physical activity can improve and be part of everyday life.
What is the emotional and well being element? It sets up a confidential pastoral support system for all pupils. It supports vulnerable individuals and groups. Establishes a clear bullying policy. Establishes behaviour and rewards policies.
