What is the digital divide? The digital divide is the gap between people who have technology and people who don't. this could include: mobile phones, computers, television and the internet.
The digital divide between people in cities and rural areas People in cities may have a much better connection to the internet and may be more likely to have more technological equipment, whereas the more rural areas may not have as good as a internet connection.
The digital divide between educated and non-educated people Some people who are more educated than others may have more technology in their houses as they are have learnt that skill while at school. people who are not educated may not be able to read and therefore won't have a computer
The digital divide between more and less industrially developed nations People who are in more industrially developed countries (USA) are more likely to have better technology compared to people in less industrial developed countries (Africa)
The digital divide between socioeconomic groups People who are a higher class will more likely have more money to spend and therefore have more digital technology, whereas people who are lower class may not be able to afford advanced technology.
High and low performance computers, wireless connections and the digital divide People who live in Less economically developed countries will have low performance computers, with slow WiFi and wont have wireless connection. However more developed countries will have high performance computers with wireless connection, this is the digital divide.
Why did the digital divide occur? The digital divide has occurred due to the social inequality of the world and the economic problems. Due to a result of the following problems the use of technology is impacted and has created a divide in the way the world uses technology.
Three areas that create a divide in digital usage 1. Africa 2. China 3. USA 1. In Africa there is a big divide it the digital usage as Africa is not a highly developed country. They are unable to gain access to internet connection. 2. In China they create most of the technology however they are not able to have an Internet connection. 3. In The USA there is a big amount of technology and good internet connection they are very up to date with technology
How to stop having a digital divide? (Between one country) By the Government helping to provide access to the internet across the whole country will reduce the digital divide. Also by making a law to have electrical goods at cheap prices will reduce.
How to stop having a digital divide? (Between the world) By having a good internet connection across the world and providing nothing or extremely cheap prices, the divide between the digital world should reduce.
