Prouille Dominic set up the first group of Dominican sisters. Prouille is near Toulouse, in south of france.
Caleruega Dominic was born in Caleruga, Spain
Northcote St Dominic’s Catholic College was founded by the Dominican Sisters at Northcote in 1952 and later transferred to our present Henderson site in 1967
Moran It is named after time where The Dominican sisters were first invited by Bishop Moran to establish a school in the new diocese of Dunedin. Nine sisters, with Mother Gabriel Gill as prioress, arrived in 1871.
Sion (Hill) From the age of nine Victoria Margaretta Gill boarded at St Catherine's Dominican Convent, Sion Hill. Victora fled across snow to Sion Hill to reputedly avoid marriage. She stayed there and received Dominican habit and was named Sister Mary Gabriel of the most blesses sacrament.
Aquinas Saint Thomas Aquinas was a Catholic Priest in the Dominican Order and one of the most important Medieval philosophers and theologians.
Helensville Is the first place in Auckland the Dominican Sisters settled and took up residence in the house opposite the school.
