What was the Prague Spring and what was one major effect on Communism because of it? April 1968, it was a period of increased political freedom which resulted in a lot of criticism to Communism
What were Dubcek's three main reforms? 1) Relaxation of censorship 2) More Democracy was allowed 3) More power was given to the Czech Parliament and Soviet power was reduced
What did the relaxation of censorship mean? There was more freedom to say and write things, even if they were anti-communist
How did Brezhnev respond to Dubcek's reforms? He couldn't allow the reforms as it may lead to the breaking of the Warsaw pact. B. failed to convince D. to stop the reforms and so sent tanks to Prague and arrested Dubcek

What was the effect of the Prague spring? Czechoslovakia returned to being under strict Soviet rule
What were the three consequences of the Prague spring? 1) The Brezhnev Doctrine was introduce 2) Western Communist parties declared Independence from the Soviets 3) Yugoslavia and Romania backed of from the USSR weakening its grip on E. Europe
What was the Brezhnev Doctrine? The USSR had the right to invade any Eastern Bloc country that was threatening the security of the Eastern Bloc as a whole
