What were the facts of the Plessy vs Fergurson? On June 7, 1982, Homer Plessy boarded a car of the East Louisiana railroad designated for white patrons only. Even though he was 7/8th white and 1/8th black under Louisiana state law he was classified as an African american, thus required to sit in the "coloured" car. When he refused to move, he was arrested and jailed.
What are Constitutional rights? A liberty or right whose protection from governmental interference is guaranteed by a constitution.
What was the decision of the court? Plessy argued that the railroad company had denied him his constitutional rights under the 13th and 14th amendment of the United States. In a 7 to 1 decision the supreme court rejected Homer Plessy's arguments.
