What happened in Birmingham in 1963? | MLK setup a march for black people to stop segregation in the town. however the police started abusing the protesters and arresting them. This was shown to all of america and JFK stopped segregation in Birmingham. |
What happened in Washington in 1963? | A march which included 250,000 people was held at Washington DC and MLK gave his "I have a dream" speech and laws were passed which granted black people more rights. |
How was Malcom X different to MLK? | Malcom X - Was against peaceful protests and blamed it on the politicians. Also he wanted a separate country for black people. |
Why was the sit ins effective? | It allowed media and news to capture the violence which showed the world what was going on. This also showed that black people were peaceful. |
