How did immigrants first arrive to America and from where? From Asia, via a land bridge to the east of Asia, now submerged.
Where and when were the Mayas, Aztecs, and Incas? Maya - 300-800 C.E., southern Mexico and on south. Aztecs - later, central Mexico. Incas - Peru and south America.
Who were the Conquistadores? Spanish explorers and conquerors who sailed to the Americas and took over lands. These gave Spain a head start on the conquest of America.
Who was Hernan Cotres? A conquistador who conquered the Aztec empire.
Who was Francisco Pizarro? A conquistador who conquered the Inca empire.
What are the New Laws of 1542? Laws regarding the rights of Native Americans that were set by the king of Spain as a result of Bartolome de Las Casas.
What's Roanoke Island? The first British Colony in America, under Elizabeth 1st in the late 16th century. The colony didn't last.

What were some technological advancements at the time? 1. Compass 2. Gunpowder 3. Map making 4. Printing press
Who were Ferdinand and Isabella? Two monarchs that married and united their kingdoms into Spain. They were powerful and drove the Islam away.
What is the Protestant Reformation? The decision of a few countries to counter the pop and leave Catholic Christianity.
Who was Henry the Navigator? A Portuguese prince under whom the quickest route to Asia, through south of Africa, was discovered.
What was Columbus's nationality and when did he arrive to America? Italian born explorer for the Spanish, arrived at 1492.
What is the Line of Demarcation? The north-south line drawn by the pope to divide America between the Spanish and the Portuguese.
What is the Treaty of Tordesillas? A treaty signed a year after the Line of Demarcation, a little to the west (with the same idea). This is how Portugal got Brazil.
What is the Iroquois confederation? A confederation of five Native American tribes in North America.
What are longhouses? A type of long building that were typical for the Iroquois confederation.
Who is John Cabot? An Italian born explorer for the British who explored the coasts of Newfoundland and 1497.
Who was Jacques Cartier? A french explorer who explored the St. Lawrence river extensively. (1534-1542)
Who was Samuel de Champlain? The one who established the first permanent french settlement in 1608 at Quebec. His strong leadership won him the title "Father of new France".
Who was Henry Hudson? An English navigator who sailed the Hudson river.
What's the Valladolid debate? A debate held in the city of Valladolid, regarding the rights of Native Americans.
Who was Juan Gines de Sepulveda? A Spanish proponent of Native American slavery, who opposed Las Casas at the Valladolid debate.
Who was Bartolome de Las Casas? A Spanish priest who opposed Native American slavery.
