Define the term habitat? A habitat is where organisms live.
Define the term abiotic factors. Abiotic factors are non-living factors that live in the environment.
List the resources provided by the environment? They are food, water, shelter and living things, suitable temperature, mating partners for reproduction and gases such as oxygen.
What are biotic factors? Biotic factors are living factors that include partners for mating, organisms to eat, and organisms they may compete with for food and shelter.
Define the word Adaptations? Adaptations that assist organisms to survive and reproduce. Adaptations help organisms help get food, water, protect themselves, build homes and reproduce.
What Adaptations help the crocodile survive? Fine sharp teeth to catch their prey, powerful legs and tail to move quickly on land and water, webbed feet to allow the crocodile to swim faster in water.
Define the word nocturnal? Nocturnal means active or hunting at night.
Give 3 Adaptations that plants to survive? Hooks on stems, leaves and long thin threads.
Give 6 different ways adaptations help animals? Food, water, shelter, suitable temperature, partners and oxygen.
Give 6 different ways adaptations help plants? Protect themselves from grazing animals, take in oxygen and carbon dioxide, take in water, capture light and reproduce.
What affects where animals live? Predators that are looking for food.
What is the environment? Environment is all the conditions that affect a plant or animal in its habitats.
What are ecologists? Ecologists are scientists who study the interactions between living things and their environments.
Name 7 factors that change an environment? Temperature, whether it is dry and wet, whether it is windy, the quality of the air, the water quality, type of soil, plants, animals, bacteria and fungi that live their.
What is the biosphere? Biosphere is the place where all life exist; consists of Earth and its atmosphere
What is an ecosystem? An Ecosystem is a balanced system formed by organisms interacting with each other and their non-living surroundings.
What does interdependence mean? Interdependence means depending on each other for survival.
What is commensalism? Commensalism is an interaction between two organisms where one of them benefits but the other is not affected.
What is mutualism? An interaction between organisms where both organisms benefits from the relationship and neither is harmed.
