What is the circulatory system? The system that makes sure everything gets to where it needs to go in your body.\_(*_*)_/
How many types of blood vessels are there? 3
Name them. Capillaries Arteries Veins
What is a capillary? A small blood vessel found in the tissue.
What is an artery? The vessels that carry blood away from the heart.
What are veins? The vessels that carry blood back to the heart
What is a bruise? A bruise is a small patch of blood surroundign the tissue.
How does a bruise occur? Some of the tiny capillaries near your skin burst, leaking blood into the tissue.
What is a heart? The organ that pumps blood around the body.
What is a heart made out of? Cardiac Muscle
How big is the heart? About the size of your fist.
Where is the heart located? In the middle of your chest, behind the breastbone.
Does cardiac muscle get tired? No
How does the cardiac muscle keep it's energy flowing? By producing more and more energy with the mitochondria
How many phases of a heartbeat are there? 3
What is the first stage? The two Atria Contract, pushing the blood down into the ventricles.
What is the second Stage? The ventricles contract, forcing blood out of the heart to the body and lungs.
What is the last stage? The heart muscle relaxes and the atria fills with blood
Is Blood an organ? Yes

What are red blood cells? Oxygenated Blood Cells made in the blood marrow that have haemoglobin
What are white blood cells? The larger blood cells that are part of the immune system.
What is Plasma? Clear yellowish liquid that is 90% water 10% dissolved materials such as nutrients and waste. Blood cells and platelets are suspended in Plasma.
What are Platelets? Platelets are broken bits of cells Produced in the bone marrow
What do platelets help do? They Help Clot Blood.
What can a too much of a blood clot cause? 1. Heart Attack if it occurs in the heart 2. A stroke if it occurs in the brain
