Question Answer
What are Newtons 3 laws? 1. Balanced forces mean no change in velocity 2. A resultant force means change in acceleration. 3.If object A exerts a force on object B, object B exerts the exact opposite force on object A.
What is the equation which links force, mass and acceleration? F=ma (force=mass x acceleration).
What are the equations for acceleration? 1. Final velocity-initial velocity divided by time taken. 2. Force divided by mass.
What is the difference between speed and velocity? Speed is a scalar quantity, while velocity is a vector quantity (scalar quantities only have a size, wheres vector quantities have a size and direction).
What differences are there between weight and mass? 1. Weight depends on gravity, whereas mass is constant through out the universe. 2. Weight is measures in Newtons, mass is measures in Grams.
What are the 3 different types of friction? 1. Friction between solid surfaces which are gripping. 2. Friction by solid surfaces which are gliding past each other. 3. Drag or air resistance.
