Question Answer
Recurring Fractions to Decimals 1.) Multiply the sequence by a power of 10 so that first part of a repeated portion is in front of decimal point 2.) Subtract to get a whole number 3.) That number would be 9(999)x 4.) Solve for x and simplify
Find a percentage of something Divide number by 100 and multiply by percent (Divide by 100 is 1% and multiply by percent makes it that percent)
Increasing number by percent Multiply by 100 and [number] percent (Convert to decimal)
Decreasing number by percent Multiply by what's left of that number when you subtract from 100 (100%-%) (Convert to decimal)
Reverse percent: increased O.P. x 1.% = S.P. S.P. ÷ 1.% = O.P.
Reverse percent: decreased O.P. x 0.% = S.P. S.P. ÷ 0.% = O.P.
Factorizing: Common Factor Take out common factor & put remainder in brackets
Factorizing: Difference of Two Squares Take square root of each number and put in brackets twice (One adding, one subtracting)
Factorizing: Inspection Find factors of the constant that add up to the letter term OR 1. Multiply number in front of the squared by the constant 2. Find factors of that that add up to the letter term 3. Group and remove the common factor 4. Regroup
Completing the Square 1. Divide the 'bx' by two, and place it as a square in the brackets 2. Subtract the product of the 'c^2' , then add/subtract so you'll get the final term
Solving Quadratics Use formula: -b +/- √ b - 4ac --------------------- 2a
Graphing Quadratcics y = ax^2 + bx + c ^2 = one curve ^3 = two curves c = y intercept
Finding the Vertex -b ---- 2a
Simultaneos Equations Eg: 4x + 4y = 12 - 4x - 2y = 0 -------------- 6y = 12 y = 2 Solve for variable "x"
Probability: "and" (e.g. P(red and blue)) Multiply the two probabilities
Probability: "or" (e.g. P(red or blue)) Add the two probabilities
Pythagorain theorem a^2 + b^2 = c^2 a = leg b = leg c = hypotenuse
Finding an angle of a right-angled triangle SOH CAH TOA S = sine; C = cosine; T = tan A = adjacent to angle; O = oppisite to angle; H = hypotenuse
Simple Interest (gets the interest) Principle x Rate x Time --------------------------- 100
Compound Interest (gets principle and interest) Appreciation: Principle (1 + rate/100)^time Depricatoin: Principle (1 - rate/100)^time
Direct Poportion 1. Take the thing that is only mentioned once and multiply it by the fraction of the other two 2. Since it should get bigger, put the bigger one on top
Direct Proportion (Variation) y = kx
Inverse Proportion 1. Take the thing that is only mentioned once and multiply it by the fraction of the other two 2. Since it should get smaller, put the smaller one on top
Inverse Proportion (Variation) y = k/x
Scale Factor LSF = 2D ASF = LSF^2 VSF = LSF^3
Range of Values n1 < x < n2
Range of Values on a Numberline Shaded circle - includes value Unshaded circle - doesn't include value
Mean from Grouped Data E (mid-value X frequency) ----------------------------- E frequency (E : the sum of all values)
Median from Grouped Data Class that contains middle value
Mode from Grouped Data Class that contains the highest frequency
Histograms F / I = F.D. Frequency / Interval = Frequency Density
Area of a Segment of a Circle π(r^2)angle ----------------- 360
Circumference of a Segment of a Circle (2πr)angle ----------------- 360
