The Aswan Dam Economic Advantages In 1970 the dam generated 50% of Egypt's energy (industrial and in homes), today is produces 15% of their demands. The annual Nile flood can now be controlled preventing loss of crops and damaged infrastructure. The water stored in the dam can be used to irrigate crops all ear round (wheat yields doubled) therefore more jobs in the agricultural indstry
