Types of Sentences

Question	Answer
Clause	Related group of words that have both a subject and a predicate.
independent clause	clause with a full thought (I went to the market.)
dependent clause	clause that is not a full thought (When I went to the market,)
simple sentence	1 independent clause
compound sentence	2 independent clauses joined by a comma and a conjunction or a semicolon (I like to sleep, and I like to eat.)
complex sentence	1 independent and 1 dependent clause joined by a comma (After I eat, I like to sleep.)
Compound-Complex sentence	1 dependent and 2 independent clauses joined by a comma and a comma and conjunction (After I eat, I like to sleep, but I don't do this very often.)
