Prepare the Iris Mechanism cut files using the plan
Are the cut files prepared?
turn on the laser-cutter and wait for the red light (which tells you when the laser is ready) to turn off. Meanwhile focus the laser with the autofocus function.
has the red light turned off and have you finished autofocussing
Cut out the layout on the 3mm MDF

put the rings together and feed rivets through

next place the supports through and then the petals on the end of those.

put the top layer to put the petals in place
has the top layer been put in place?
set the Iris aside until in use...

THE PHOTO FRAME CORNERS
Prepare the cut files on 2d design.
are the cut files ready?
Get the laser cutter ready and auto focussed and cut out the file.
are the pieces cut?
Stick together the pieces using Titbond wood glue.
Are the pieces all glued together to make 4 different corners.
Set the pieces aside to use in assembly...
CALENDAR HOLDER AND DATES
Cut out the Calendar holder on beech pieces
Are the Beech pieces cut?
Glue the pieces with Titebond and leave to one side to dry.
Cut out Mahogany pieces using the calendar figure scale drawing
Are the Mahogany pieces cut?
Set the laser cutter to engrave and engrave the days and months onto separate mahogany pieces
Have the figures been engraved?
Get a light wood filler like beech or pine and fill in the engraved area. And when it's dry sand off the excess to leave a lovely printed date on the piece.
Have the figures been sanded and finished off?
Set the figures aside and then pull our the beech pieces that should have dried and then stain them using the wood stains. (medium oak and them let them dry)

Mark out the sizes of the drawers on pieces of oak.
have the pieces been marked out?
laser cut the pieces of acrylic for the drawer to slide easily on.
have the acryllic pieces been laser cut?
Cut out the pieces of oak that have been marked out.
have the pieces been cut out?
cut angled corners using a sliding bevel tri-square. and cut them using a tenon saw.
have the corners been cut?
cut small splints to fill the gap and then apply some titebond which should fix the splint in place.
has the titebond wood glue been added to the splint in the gap??
wait for the glue to dry
has the glue dried?
sand off / cut off the excess splint to finish offwith a clean joint.
has the sides been sanded off smooth?
MINI DRAWER RAILS
prepare to laser cut the acrylic sides for the mini drawers to slide easily upon.
Is the file ready to be cut?
attach the acrylic sides together to make an open box. The open end is where the drawer slides in and out of.

BACK LOCKED CABINET
Using the orthographic drawing, mark out the sizes for the huge back cabinet
Are the pieces all marked out?
Cut out the pieces on pine except the front of the drawer as this is the visible side.
have the pieces been cut out?
glue the pine pieces together using titebond and it should form an open box.
you can now put them aside
have the pieces glued together.
Leave all pieces to one side until assembly.

ASSEMBLY
Get the Oak veneered MDF and cut it into 3 pieces of size 250mm x 500mm
has the iris and calendar been glued on?
Have the mitre splint joints been made?
are the pieces cut out?
Has the front panel been screwed on.
Are the photo frame corners glued on?
Has the front panel pieces been cut?
Has the hole for the iris been cut?
Cut out the mini pieces used to make the front panel
laser cut the front drawer frame on acrylic and screw on with 4 M4/M5 countersunk screws.
Cut a Hole out of the left side midway through the top square for the Iris to glue on.
Glue on the Iris mechanism and the calendar holder frame using titebond and the orthographic drawing
Make Mitre splint joints just like the ones on the mini drawer
look at the right side of the light. Glue on the photo frame corners using the orthographic drawing and titbond
Stick the frosted acrylic onto the back of the square holes using 2 part epoxy
Insert the drawers and attach hinges to the back 'cabinet'
Are the panels placed on?
Has the frosted acrylic squares been glued on?
Are the drawers in place as well as the hinges for the back cabinet
Place the top and bottom pieces of the drawer to end off.
Glue on an aluminium sheet with a hole just big enough to fit the bulb holder where the orthographic drawing tells you to glue it
Has the aluminium sheet been placed?
FINISHED LIGHT BOX
Glue together the front frame pieces using titebond.
