Resource summary
Flowchart nodes
A Signalling molecule binds to receptor on the plasma membrane of target cell
This activates the G protein.
The G Protein activates Adenyl cyclase enzymes
Activated Adenyl Cyclase enzymes catalyse formation of cAMP from ATP
cAMP activates PKA (protein kinase A)
PKA catalyses the phosphorylation of many other enzymes, hydrolysing ATP in the process
Glycogen becomes converted into glucose
May phosphorylate other proteins
This then enters the nucleus and acts as a transcription factor to regulate transcription
