comunicates what he feels
Art: is found everywhere. Art is
history. The artist is a philosopher, a
critic and a moralist.

Theme: the genre of type where it's
placed.
Means: are the material or resources
that an artist uses.
Style: allow us to identify an artist
individually.
Composition: the way in wich all the
elements are arranged
Format: design of a work of art.
The Elements of Art
Color: it gives life to the work of art adding
power and attraction.
Value: even if there's no color there can be
abrupt
Texture: the way it feels (smooth, rough, etc)
Shape and Form: shapes refer to a 2
dimensional (lenght and width) area clearly
set by other visual elements. Form has to
do with 3 dimensional spaces.
Space: distance or area in between,
around, below, above, or within things.
Principles of Art,
Balance: way of combining elements to add
feeling or equilibrium.
Emphasis: way of combining elements to stress
the difference between those elements.
Harmony: way of combining similar elements to
accent their similarities.
Variety: way of combining elements to create
complicated relationships.
Gradation: way of combining elements by a
gradual series of changes in them.
Movement: principle of art used to create the look
and feeling of action.
Rythm: created by the careful placement of
repeated elements to cause a tempo or beat
Proportion: concerned with the relationship of a certain
elements to the whole and to each other.
The Art Criticism Approach
Description: discovering what is in the work.
Acknowledge all the elements in the work.
Analysis: how the work is organized or put
together taking in account the principles of art
and thus understanding the desing qualities or
how well the work is organized
Interpretation: discover the feeling, mood or
idea that the work communicates
Judgment: grade personal opinion of the work.
History Approach
Description: when, where and by whom was the work
made
Analysis: analyzes the characteristics to determine the
style
Interpretation: interprents how the time and epoch
influences the artist
