One of the main protagonists. He's a smart
man, and he's the one who takes care of

Lennie Small
The other protagonist. Lennie is mentally handicapped. He likes to caress soft
animals, but when he caresses them, he usually twists their necks, killing
them.
Curley
The son of the farm owner, Curley, is an amateur boxer. He fights
Lennie, however Lennie smashes Curley's hand.
Curley's wife
She is the only woman in the drama. Curley treats she as
his possession. Lennie is fascinated by her.
Slim
"He's the prince of the ranch". Slim is respected
by several characters.
Carlson
A farm worker. He owns the gun that killed Candy's dog and
that killed Lennie.
The Boss
The Ranch Owner and father of Curley.
Crooks
Crooks is the employee who takes care of the stables. He sleeps in
isolation from other employees because he is the only black man
on the ranch.
Candy
Candy is the owner of the dog that was euthanized.

John Ernst Steinbeck Jr, the author of the book, was born in Salinas, California, in 1902. Steiberck
graduated from high school and went to Stanford University, however, he did not finish college.
When he left college, he worked for five years in New York. However, he returns to California, where
he releases one of his first novels, "The Pastures of Heaven", in 1932. In 1935, with the novel “Tortilla
Flat”, Steinbeck won the Gold Medal of the Commonwealth Club of San Francisco, as the best novel
of the year written by a Californian. In 1937, he released the book “Of Mice and Men”, which later
became a theatrical version. On December 20, 1968, John Steibeck passed away.

The novel's title comes from a poem by Scottish poet Robert
Burns called "To a Mouse".

George and Lennie, dream of settling on their own land in the future. Where

When they arrive at the ranch and meet the other residents, Lennie
is delighted with Candy
Carlson later complains about Candy's dog, which is old and smelly.
Soon after Carlson offers to kill the dog, and Candy agrees.
Curley fights Lennie, until Lennie smashes Curley's hand,
breaking the bones of Curley's hand.
Days later, Lennie strokes a dead puppy. With that, Curley's wife allows Lennie to caress her. Minutes
later, Lennie strokes too much, and she doesn't like it, so Curley's wife screams. Making Lennie
startle and twist the girl's neck. With what happened Lennie flees.
To prevent Curley from hurting Lennie, George steals
Candy's gun. Goerge go Lennie's search. When George
finds him, he calms Lennie down. So that Lennie
doesn't cause more trouble and Curley doesn't hurt
him, George shoots and kills Lennie.
