Annotations:
It is used to express actions that started in the past and finished in the past.
afirmative structure
Subject+ verb in past+ Complement.

Negative structure
Subject+ did not+ verb in base for+ complement
He did not submit the homework beacuse he was sick.
Interrogative structure
Did (aux) + sbj+ verb in base form+ com+ ?
Did you clean your bedroom?
Past perfect
Annotations:
It is used to make it clear that one event happened before another in the past.
afirmative structure
Subject+ had (aux)+ verb in p.p+ complement.
They had bought a new house for their mom.
Negative structure
Subject+ had (aux) not+ verb in p.p+ complement.
I had not studied biology.
Interrogative structure
Had (aux)+ sbj+ verb in p.p+ complement+ ?

Past continuous
Annotations:
We use it to describe actions that began in the past and often continued for a short period of time after the action started.
