Parts of an Aircraft

Cockpit: compartment for the pilot.
Radome: houses the aircraft radar.
Engine: produces thrust to propell forward.
Wings: generates lift.
1. Aileron: enables the aircraft to roll. When aileron in the roght wing moves up, the aileron in left wing moves down and enables the airplane to roll.
  1. "Roll along longitudinal axis."
2. Flaps: are high-lift devices used to increase lift and drag when needed.
3. Spoilers: as the name indicates spoilers are to spoil the lift during landing.
4. Winglet: reduces the wing tip vortices to a grater extent, thereby reducing induced drag.
Fuselage: main body of an aircraft.
Vertical stabilizer: rudder is a primary control surface used for yawing. Turning the aircraft to the left and right.
1. "Yaw motion along the vertical axis."
Horizontal stabilizer: elevator is a primary control surface used to control an aircraft pitch. Nose up and down.
1. "Pitch motion along the transverse axis."
