an old legend retold long, long ago before
the spanish conquistadors arrived in what
is today mexico, there lived a brave and
courageous warrior named popocatepetl
the tlaxcala had to pay tribute to the mighty
aztec emperor, like all people from the
mexico valley
were fed up with this situation. playing it was
against the grain that's why one day, the tlaxcalan
chief decided that it's time to free his people from
the aztec domination. a terrible war begins
before going off to war popocatepetl asks
ixtaccihualt's father for her hand, if he is
victorious in this battle
popocatepetl wins all the battle, and
upon his triumphant return to tlaxcala,
the chief comes to greer him with the
worst possible news ixtaccihualt , his
beloved princes is dead
popocatepetl is bent out shape . he cannot believe
adored princess is dead. what happened? she was
perfectly alright when he left; she wasn't even a little
under the weather.
so, he begins walking up the mountains, higher with his
princess body in this arms
when he arrives at the top, near
the sky he lays her down and
then kneels next to her, with a
torch in his hand.
