Types of Bonding
  1. Ionic Bonding
    1. When electrons are TRANSFERRED from one atom to another to form a cation and an anion, each with complete outer shells
      1. after, the ionic bond forms due to the ELECTROSTATIC ATTRACTION between the electrical charges of a cation and anion
      2. generally between metals and non-metals
      3. Metallic Bonding
        1. The electrostatic attraction between a lattice of positive ions and delocalised electrons
        2. Covalent Bonding
          1. chemical bonds formed by the sharing of one or more pairs of electrons between atoms
            1. "an electrostatic attraction between a pair of bonding electrons and a positively charged nuclei"
              1. electrons are SHARED
              2. between atoms with high electronegativity (non-metals)
                1. has structural formulas
                2. London Dispersion Forces
                  1. INTRAMOLECULAR BONDS
                    1. INTERMOLECULAR FORCES
                      1. Hydrogen bonding
                        1. strongest
                          1. FON
                          2. Dipole-dipole forces
